Your data stays on your Mac

Family Uniwersum is a local-first application. Your family tree, photos, documents, and research notes are stored in a database on your own computer. We do not run servers that store your genealogy data, and we cannot see it.

No tracking, no analytics

The app does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, or telemetry. This website does not use tracking cookies.

Online searches you start

When you explicitly use an online feature — for example searching FamilySearch, Geni, WikiTree, Geneteka, or other archives — the app sends your search query (such as a name, date, or place) directly to that service. Those requests are governed by the privacy policy of the respective service. Nothing is sent anywhere without your action.

AI features

If you enable AI-assisted features, the specific data needed for that request (for example, a person's name and dates when asking for research suggestions) is sent to the AI provider you configure. AI features are optional and off by default, and your data is not used to train models.
